In the past, chiropractic got several reviews from physicians. But, The American College of Physicians issued new guidelines in early 2017. It now supports the use of nonpharmacologic treatments, such as acupuncture and chiropractic, as the first-line remedy for low back issues, before using prescription.
Several studies including a review in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2017, found that spinal manipulation decreases lower back discomfort. While research shows a clear advantage with neck and back pain, the jury on manual therapy for knee and hip arthritis is still out.

The bottom line, chiropractic is worth a try. But, if any clinician says her treatment will permanently cure your arthritis, you should find another one. If you don’t see improvement within four to ten treatments, either switch chiropractors or try a new treatment path.
